What is the Diverse Empowerment Foundation (DEF)?
DEF is a grassroots feminist disability justice organization rooted in Uganda and the diaspora.
Through advocacy, art, care, and connection, we work to advance visibility, protection, and
leadership for disabled and gender-diverse communities.
Who does DEF support?
We center people with disabilities, especially those who are gender-diverse, alongside allies, activists, and service providers.
Is it safe to share my story or contribute to Sauti Lounge?
Yes. You can submit anonymously if you wish. We review all contributions carefully and will never share personal information without consent.
How can I partner with DEF or invite DEF to collaborate?

Our primary base is Uganda, but our team and community are spread across East Africa and the
diaspora. We operate digitally, accessibly, and with care for safety.
